PHP Developer

we are now looking to recruit a PHP / SQL programmer to join our expanding IT department. You must be a team player and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Salary: £22,000 - £25,000

Location: Home based, with ad-hoc requirement to work from the Bolton office
Hours: 37 per week, Monday – Thursday 9.00am – 5.30pm, Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking to recruit a PHP / SQL programmer to join our expanding IT department. The successful candidate should be eager to learn, technically confident and have the ability to hit the ground running. You must be a team player and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Working for us you will have the chance to showcase your abilities and get involved with all aspects of the development process.

Based remotely within this fast-paced team the ideal candidate will be goal orientated and will understand the importance of meeting deadlines along with having the ability to work alone whilst complimenting a highly skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review current code, write new code
  • Develop new product features, fix bugs, and optimize code performance and quality
  • Communication with development lead and team members to understand and further develop requirements
  • Transparent working practices and be able to explain design/concepts when asked

Technical Requirements:

The successful applicant will possess the following qualities:

  • Experience of PHP development, version 7+, focus on OOP (Object Oriented Programming)
  • MVC (Model View Controller) frameworks, CodeIgniter
  • JavaScript & jQuery, multi-browser, with focus on Firefox/Chrome, compatibility
  • CSS, similar to JS requirement, SCSS is a plus
  • JSON
  • Good understanding of Software design and architecture
  • Experience in using Responsive HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Database management & optimization with MySQL
  • Experience with Git source control
  • Exploring new ideas, technology and solutions and how they can be implemented in our existing services

Required Experience:

  • Be confident in contributing to the planning and management of development projects
  • Capable of accepting responsibility for design and work
  • Have good problem-solving skills and the ability to see problems from a user perspective
  • Be passionate about development with a drive to further your skills and learn new technologies
  • Innovative creative and well-defined solutions to complex problems
  • Hold 1-3 years' experience (Preferable)
